Security Features of Currency Notes

Key Security Features of 100, 500 & 1000 Taka Banknotes
The 100, 500, and 1000 Taka banknotes featuring the portrait of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman contain four main security features that help in distinguishing genuine notes from counterfeit ones:

1. Security Thread
The security thread on these notes contains the Bangladesh Bank logo and the denomination of the note, which becomes visible when tilted.
For 100 & 500 Taka notes issued after June 2017, a hair-braid-like band on the thread changes color from red to green when tilted.
The denomination is partially visible under normal light but becomes fully visible under a table lamp or torchlight.
2. Color-Shifting Ink
When tilted, the 100 & 1000 Taka notes show a shift in printed ink color from gold to green.
On the 500 Taka note, the ink changes from reddish to green.
Additionally, on the 1000 Taka note, the light blue BANGLADESH BANK text on the back becomes visible when the note is tilted.
 3. Raised Printing (Tactile Feature)
Certain elements on the front and back of all 100, 500, and 1000 Taka notes have a rough texture, making them identifiable by touch:
                                The main design elements
The denomination numbers in both English and Bengali
                                Seven parallel slanted lines
Small circular raised dots below the slanted lines
                                4. Microtext (Small Lettering)
On the back side of all 100, 500, and 1000 Taka notes, the elliptical section contains microscopic BANGLADESH BANK text.
This text is visible without a magnifying glass if the smartphone camera is zoomed in or by using the Flashlight & Magnifying Glass app.
                                How to Verify Banknotes?
UV Light Machines can detect hidden security features in genuine notes.
Smartphone cameras and magnifying glasses help check microtext details.
Always check banknotes carefully during transactions to avoid counterfeit money.
